About
Hello Friend! Thanks for stopping by and checking out Creative Beginning! My name is Amanda Laird. Im in my early twenties and am a full-time student at the University of Oregon (go Ducks!). I’m finishing up my degree in architecture, and am busy raising a fun-loving 2 year old daughter as well. I just bought my 1st house just a few months ago, and my I have poured my heart and soul into bringing my neglected home back to life. I have come across many challenges, but have learned that with just a little creativity, I can tackle just about anything.
This blog was created to share my journey through first time home renovation, decor, and diy projects I have fallen in love with! I hope you enjoy and continue to come back to see what we are up to!

Hi Amanda,
thanks so much!!
I just found your blog and love your style~ I was wondering about your fireplace surround..I am in LOVE with the woodwork that you did…are you going to post a tutorial soon???
Julie~ Yes I am definitely going to post a step by step on the fireplace surround. Give me about two weeks before its up! I know its a while before the next post, but I am absolutely swamped and have to give 150% of my time to my finals right now (graduate from college in 2 weeks, yay!) After this madness is done, I’m going to dive back into my blog again.
Thanks for stopping by and check back in a couple of weeks!
Amanda
Hi! I LOVE this fireplace you’ve done. Is the tutorial posted yet? I might be looking in the wrong place but I’ve been searching and don’t see it. I have a similar “before” fireplace area and would just love to know how you did your remodel. thanks so much! I love your info/site! thank you for the tips!

Hello, Loved the site. Clicked on Meet amanda on the page madly hoping that it would transport me to Oregon. I dont think the internet is ready for that yet though. Until then..Super cool Amanda
I will pay you to make the Eagan mirror for me:) I think you version turned out great! PB price so high, I just can’t afford to buy it, but I love the style and have the same type of mantel as yours. Please let me know if you are interested.
Thank you,
Christy
You posted a question about a slideshow you saw on another website, http://theletteredcottage.net/
I found out it’s plugin. The name of it is, Meteor Slides.
Thanks for posting that website!! I was looking to add a slideshow to one of my customers websites and found your post. Figured I’d shared my results. Better late than never, I noticed no one was helpful in answering your question.
Cheers,
Steven
