Our New Kitchen
Finally! I have kitchen photos. Thanks for being so patient, I just didn’t want to post pictures until we were completely finished. So without further ado, I give you the newly remodeled kitchen!
(sorry we didnt have more before photos, we weren’t thinking, but we have learned our lesson….always take BEFORE and after photos)
Here is the new breakfast bar we put in! It was just a half-wall with no lights up above. We cut down the half-wall and added the countertop for the bar, and ran wiring through the ceiling to drop in two new light pendants ($30 each at ikea!) We still need some stools, I’m just debating on whether I should make them or try to find a good buy somewhere.
We kept the same cupboards as before, just painted them white, and added some hardware I found online for $1 a piece!
My amazing dad (as many of you already know) found this Kohler sink at a garage sale for $20 BOOYA! The countertops are butcher block counters from Ikea. They took a lot of prep though! Sanding, Conditioning, Staining, and Sealing….but it was soooo worth it!
I know its a lot of white. Maybe someday stainless steel appliances will replace the old ones….and maybe a different/darker wall color to put above the upper cupboards. Any thoughts?

I love what you did!
I bet darker wialls would look great!
Where online did you find knobs for a dollar?!? I am looking for exactly that
Keep up the great work!
We did end up going back and painting the walls up above the cupboards a darker color, and it looks a lot better! I guess i should post “newer” pictures.
I found knobs on craigslook. Its a site that searches all of craigslist areas (since on craigslist you can only search within a certain area). I found a woman selling them for a $1 a piece and I sent her a check and once it cleared she sent me the knobs. A bit risky because she could have cashed the check and then kept the knobs, but I guess I have a lot of trust in people! Good luck on your search!
Love your white cabinets, we did this to ours too this fall and really loved them. We used Flax by Restoration Hardware(they ship their paint) and it added that wow factor that the kitchen was missing. I don’t have anything above my cabinets either and the paint color helped. Love your blog just found it today!
I took out my white appliances for stainless in my kitchen (also with white cabinets) and I honestly think the white appliances might be better! Consider keeping yours; it’s seamless with the cabinetry, works with the cottage vibe and doesn’t need nearly the constant upkeep and cleaning!
